RedBall
Project
Perschke's RedBall
Project, an ongoing site-specific installation, has been
traveling the globe, adopting cities as its canvas. From
Barcelona to Busan to Sydney, the sculptural performance has
garnered public, critical and media attention worldwide.
From September 1 - 25, 2008, The RedBall Project Chicago
sponsored by Target will migrate throughout Chicago's unique
architectural landscape and history - each location
carefully considered by the artist. Site locations include
Millennium Park, Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, Hyde
Park Art Center,
IIT's McCormick Tribune Campus Center, the Chicago Cultural
Center, and more.

Surprises! 2016 Olympics Promotional Video
A very well
produced introductory presentation for the IOC in hopes of
the city being selected for the 2016 Olympic Games. Video
does a good job of essence of what makes Chicago unique
including its architecture, its festivals, its cuisine, its
culture, its history and its people. Chicago is a host
finalist along with Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo. A
decision is expected by the fall of 2009.

Allstate's Marina Towers Car Splash Ad
In case you
were out the country and never got to see this much-talked
about Allstate Ad shot in Chicago or just would like to see
it again, here it is-revisited. The spot is shot like a
fast-paced mini-drama and runs about 60 seconds. There is a
chase scene featured which ends in the big splash from one
of the corn cob-like architectural icons of note.
Monty
Python - Architect's Comedy Sketch
Well, last
week we featured one type of sketch. This week we highlight
a completely different manner of sketch - the famous British
satire of Monty Python. In this particular presentation,
actors portray a couple of competing architects making their
design pitch to some developers. Good fun.

Street-Sketching with Architect Joel Berman
With the
increasing utilization and dependence on computer-assisted
drawing, the art of freehand illustration has declined.
Chicago architect Joel Berman of Berman Architecture and
formerly of VOA Associates discusses the techniques and
nuances of freehand sketching during a freewheeling
experience with everyday citizens around downtown Chicago.
Throughout this tour, we get some thoughts from the
participants, host and even an architect or two along the
way.

As Chicago
nears the much awaited decision from the International
Olympic Committee on its selection for host city of the 2016
summer games, city efforts are ramping up to make sure
everything is in place to maximize the possibility of
success. This is production is but one of those efforts to

celebrated athletic event.

Navy Pier Fireworks 2008 to the Theme from Lonely Planet
In the event
you missed out on this years 4th of July fireworks
celebration at Chicago's Navy Pier, here is a short
rendition of the event set to the popular theme music from
Lonely Planet. In many parts the pyrotechnics seemed to be
in sync with the music. Whether this was intentional, we
don't know, but nevertheless, it works out well.

the next tallest residential building in the world will be
built can catch of a glimpse of it in its gestation stage at
the confluence of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.
Construction
on the Legacy at Millennium Park
This video
shows the progression of construction of The Legacy at
Millennium Park designed by the Chicago-based architectural
firm Solomon Cordwell and Buenz set to music. The video's
timeline takes us from the start up until almost May. The
Legacy I believe will become one of Chicago's favorite as
its slender profile will be stand prominently behind the
historic Michigan Avenue streetwall.

years. Subjects include the Pritzker Pavilion, the
under-construction Trump Tower, Marina City, the DuSable

remains of the Cabrini projects.
