Congratulations to Ryan Reopelle from Elgin, IL
recipient of a the 2008 FORWARD Scholarship Award for
$250! Ryan's outstanding academic record, his depth of
commitment to serving his community and his passion for
architecture has earned him this honor. Ryan will be
studying architecture at Judson College this fall.
Chicago Architecture Today would like to take this
opportunity to wish much success to Ryan and to all those
who applied for the FORWARD this past year.
THE
FORWARDScholarship
AWARD
FUNDING. The fundamental purpose of
this $250-$1000 award is to assist college-bound seniors and enrolled
freshman with the associated costs of their post-secondary
education. These funds can be applied to tuition fees or secondary
expenses such as books, housing, transportation, etc.
OUTSTANDING.
Academic achievement can be a reliable indicator of a student’s work
ethic, priorities, tenacity and of course aptitude. While everyone
will not always, due to varying circumstances, attain the highest
plateau of academic excellence in maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or
better, we believe that a minimum GPA of 3.0, taken together with
other required variables, will give opportunity to equally deserving
students who might otherwise not merit consideration of an award of
this nature.
RESOURCEFUL.
Often various intangibles are considered in the total evaluation of
a prospective applicant. Intangibles such as cooperativeness,
enthusiasm, honesty, and selflessness are often greatly valued in
aspirants. We believe that many of these qualities can be revealed
through involvement in service-oriented activities which can not
only highlight resourcefulness but strong character as well.
WORK. The body of work subject to
possible evaluation includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
grades, national test scores, specific class assignments or
projects, placement in contests and competitions, and individual and
group extra-curricular achievements.
ARCHITECTURAL.
Our desire is to assist students who have shown a proficiency in and
proclivity toward the study of architecture and engineering or
related subjects and careers.
RELATED. The field of architecture
branches into a diverse and varied number of occupations. Your
interest may fall into one of the following career paths or may even
further branch from one of them. If you’re not completely sure
about the relevancy of your anticipated major or vocation to this
award, apply regardless, as there’s a better chance that it indeed
will be than that it might not.
DISTINCTION.
What is there which causes you to stand out among your peers? How
does your academic record reflect your abilities and ambitions?
Have you significantly achieved in the area of your vocational
interest? Can you express yourself impressively and communicate in
a professional manner where appropriate?
